Our first release!

To commemorate Flotilla Day 2009 in Newburgh, Mighty Hudson Press will issue a mini-poster featuring a birds-eye view of the event. The release date is scheduled for June 13th, 2009.

This poster will be our inaugural release! You will be able to view it right here on this site.

The print will be available for purchase online through our eBay Store, as well as at various events throughout the summer. The first date is Sunday June 14th at the "Blending of the Waters" event on the Newburgh Waterfront.

Special thanks go to Jeffery Giudice the photographer and to St. Lukes Hospital for allowing us access to their roof.

Previews of early releases

Imagine the stoic facial expression of George Washington as we all know him, juxtaposed with the vibrant splash of Pop Art color! Then do it three more times and you have G.W. ala Warhol. (that's just a working title, not sure what to use yet)

And on the first day . . . .

After kicking this idea around in my head for, lets see . . . . a couple of years now, the time has arrived to launch a publishing company!!

I am pleased to announce the formation of Mighty Hudson Press, a publishing company that specializes in images of the Hudson River and the greater Newburgh area. The catalog of images will be sourced from local photographers and artists, as well as from vintage advertising.

There were two things that motivated me to finally take this step:

  1. The Hudson Fulton Quadricentennial Celebration and the spectacle of the Flotilla Day when 200 ships and boats are to come up the Hudson River and drop anchor in the Newburgh bay for two days. There is so much interest being created in the river and the region, the timing was perfect.
  2. There was this idea for an unusual image that seemed like people would want to have a copy - imagine the classic head shot of George Washington, but done in an 'Andy Warhol-esque' pop art style.

Well, it is now only a few days until the Flotilla arrives and I managed to get the George piece done, so here it goes!
